New Macs cuddle with Google apps

Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced improvements to the company's popular iMac desktop at a recent press conference, saying the company was working closely with Google to tie-in key applications to its computing products.

Referring to a new feature called Events that lets users store digital photos and video and mark them for sharing on either the .Mac subscription service or Google's YouTube, Jobs said a close relationship with the search giant would help cement Apple's internet presence.

"We are working closely with Google," Jobs was quoted as saying in a BusinessWeek story. "They have a lot of great technologies that we want to tie in with our applications."

The new Macs feature sleek new casing, improved monitors and a redesigned keyboard. Apple also said it would lower its prices, with new models starting at $1,199.
