Facebook jumps on iPhone bandwagon

In a meeting of two red-hot brands, Facebook has launched a mobile version of its social networking site that works on the iPhone.

"The iPhone hasn't even been out for two months yet, but it has already changed the way people think about the mobile web," Facebook engineer Joe Hewitt wrote on the company's blog. Facebook for iPhone not only looks wonderful on that big touch screen, it makes it easier than ever to stay connected with your friends wherever you are."

The mobile version of Facebook allows users to call their friends from their profile page, update their profiles from their phones and find maps and directions to Facebook events.
