No end to Microsoft/Yahoo! rumors

Yahoo! may have just bought BlueLithium and Microsoft may be busy trying to figure out how to compete with free software from Google, but there's seems to be no end to speculation that the two giants may someday unite.

According to a blog post in The New York Times, rumors that Yahoo may join forces with Microsoft after all have once again surfaced.

Earlier in the summer, many predicted that the two would form some sort of joint venture or possibly even merge. Some Wall Street analysts even went so far as to predict that Microsoft might buy Yahoo.

In the latest round of rumors, Robert Peck, an analyst at Bear Stearns, said Yahoo was a "attractive acquisition candidate for either traditional media companies or for technology companies such as Microsoft," adding that he believes the software giant continues to "evaluate Yahoo as a target."
