Viacom releases content, still attacks Google

"We invented fragmentation in the cable world," Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman told CNET at the Web 2.0 Summit. "We are going to do that with a lot of our content going forward."

He's referring to Viacom's release yesterday of around 13,000 clips from "The Daily Show," and future plans to release more content across the web.

"We believe in following the consumer. We've always done that in our history," Dauman said.

Meanwhile, the $1 billion-dollar lawsuit with Google is still up in the air, with no indication of an out-of-court settlement.
