Google vies, Microsoft lies, Facebook thrives

So much for the comments made at the Web 2.0 Summit. The New York Post has rejuvenated rumors today that Microsoft is eager to keep Google away from the popular social network.

One source said that Microsoft is "willing to give any valuation possible" to stop a Google investment -- one that could help the Mountain View, Calif.-based search behemoth chip away at Microsoft's exclusive ad agreement.

The deal, which could be decided within the next 48 hours, would value Facebook at $15 billion.

According to Reuters, executives from both companies have been in Palo Alto all week trying to win the deal.
