AOL mobilizes for battle with Yahoo!, Google
AOL has revamped its WAP portal to better compete with Yahoo! and Google on the mobile front.
According to MediaPost, the mobilized myAOL site will be more personalized, with users choosing pictures, RSS feeds and the like. Also included in the upgrade are mobile-friendly versions of AOL Instant Messinger, MapQuest, AOL Search, and Mail.
Users with GPS-enabled phones will also be able to locate each other, signaling a step by AOL into the mobile social media world.
AOL is leveraging its acquisition of ThirdScreen to power the upgrade.
