Expect little from Hulu, say critics

Potential YouTube killer Hulu is scheduled for a test launch next week. While many are watching, few are expecting much.

Hulu is the product of a strategic partnership between Fox and NBC, which some critics say is part of the problem.

"The odds of it succeeding are low," said Todd Dagres, general partner of venture capital firm Spark Capital, to Investors Business Daily.

"The two networks will constantly question why their stuff isn't higher up the list or promoted more, so as to get as much revenue out of that content as possible," Dagres said.

Another potential downfall for the product is the lack of content. Viacom reportedly declined to join, and invitations to CBS and Walt Disney remain unconfirmed.

On top of all that, YouTube seems impervious to start-ups, with the launch of Joost earlier this month having seemingly no effect on the popular site.
