Google pumps maps to gas stations
Google seems to develop products for every kind of person.
Now, the stubborn or easily embarrassed have their time in the G-sun. Google has announced plans to work with Gilbarco Veeder-Root Inc., a maker of gas station pumps, to put Google maps on the pump starting December.
According to the Associated Press, the new pumps will have a small screen and an internet connection that will enable drivers to connect their location with nearby landmarks. The pump will then print out directions.
"We think the service will create more customer loyalty for retailers," said Lucy Sackett, a spokeswoman for Gilbarco.
While the pumps will not bring in ads for extra income for Google, merchants will be able to offer coupons related to location searches.
