YouTube tinkers with quality video
YouTube co-founder Steve Chen confirmed reports that the company is working on streaming high-quality video for users with fast internet connections.
Speaking at the NewTeeVee Live conference, Chen said YouTube would stick to its primary mission of delivering lower quality video that is widely accessible. But Chen said YouTube is working on a tool that detects the user's internet connection and offers them high quality video if they want it.
Chen told CNET that YouTube plans to offer high quality video to all those who want it within three months.
According to Chen, YouTube is working on striking a balance between a high-quality product that takes longer to play and video that is accessible to all.
