CBS launches free Wi-Fi zone in NYC

New Yorkers will soon get free Wi-Fi courtesy of CBS, which launched the ad-supported CBS Mobile Zone in conjunction with the city's Metropolitan Transit Authority.

The zone, which will cover 36 city blocks, will be largely supported by ad dollars, according to CBS.

CBS said the "hyperlocal" ads will appear on the Wi-Fi homepage giving user information on sports, weather, shopping and entertainment.

According to CBS, the pilot program will last for six months.
