AIM cuddles up to Gmail
It took two years, but Google has finally delivered on its promise to let Gmail users chat using AOL's popular instant messenger application.
According to an Associated Press report, the interface won't be available for all Gmail users until Google launches the appropriate coding. But for now, significant portions of Gmail users have access to AIM.
Google and AOL first announced plans to link services in December 2005.
Google hopes to use AIM's popularity to help it grow its Gmail program, which boasts about 87 million users worldwide.
