Microsoft locks up even more content

Microsoft has announced that it will be the exclusive provider of display and contextual ads for CNBC.com, according to a Reuters report.

According to Microsoft, the 2.6 million monthly visitors to CNBC.com represent a "high-quality" audience that advertisers are eager to reach.

The deal, similar to those inked with Facebook and Digg, give Microsoft more to offer advertisers in its growing war with Google.

The deal for display ads is effective immediately. Microsoft will take responsibility for contextual ads on CNBC later this month.
