Facebook's mobile maneuver draws heat
On the heels of Facebook's Beacon backlash, the social network is taking more fire from privacy advocates after reports surfaced that it has embedded its icon onto BlackBerrys without permission from the owners.
While Facebook insists that users still must choose to download its full mobile application, a report in SiliconValley.com (registration required) says users cannot delete the icon. That revelation promoted criticism from privacy advocates, many of whom bashed Facebook over Beacon.
Although Facebook has an interest in growing its presence in the mobile space, the company insists that it had no plans to share data from its users with either T-Mobile or Research in Motion, the carrier and manufacturer for BlackBerrys.
