Digg rumors won't die at year's end

A Christmas day rumor that Digg was working to acquire Menéame, a Spanish-language competitor, seem a fitting end to 2007 for the content-sharing site that has been the subject of so much speculation. But in a recent BusinessWeek interview, Digg CEO Jay Adelson insisted that the company has no plans to go public or sell out to a private investor in 2008.

Adelson, who also attempted to put to rest rumors that Digg was looking to acquire sites like Menéame, said the focus would be an "internal expansion."

Top on Adelson's list for 2008 are tools that personalize the Digg experience. To that end, Digg does plan to launch a "story suggest" feature and an "alert" tool.

Earlier this year, Digg revamped its site to better highlight videos.
