Wikipedia owns Super Bowl search traffic

The lion's share of searches for information on this year's Super Bowl quarterbacks went to Wikipedia, according to data released by Hitwise.

Searches for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady jumped 336 percent, while queries for Giants signal-caller Eli Manning spiked by 209 percent. Wikipedia garnered the largest single share of traffic for both players -- taking home 17.4 percent of the Brady searches and 26.4 percent of the queries for Manning.

The New England Patriot's website and the official NFL site held the No. 2 slots for Brady and Manning, respectively.

Yahoo, which continues to attract legions of users as a portal despite upheaval at the internet giant, pulled in the next biggest share of the search traffic for both quarterbacks. MSN finished in the top five in terms of traffic for both players.
