Did Google pluck Plaxo for $200M?
Online contact management service Plaxo may have a new owner, according to a Wired blog post, which reports that Google offered a little less than $200 million for the firm.
Plaxo, which has been the subject of acquisition rumors since late last year, was once linked with the likes of Facebook.
The site originally competed with Facebook and LinkedIn as a social network, but Plaxo changed its business model in October with the launch of Plaxo Pulse, a kind of digital address book that aggregates data from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and others.
Neither Google nor Plaxo has commented on the rumor. If true, the acquisition would give Google even more data for its digital coffers.
