Google's suite of software, which includes many rivals to Microsoft's Office product line, will now be fully integrated into Salesforce.com's online enterprise applications, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
The integration means that customers will be able to link Google products such as Docs, Gtalk and Gmail with Salesforce's business software. According to a report in TechCrunch, all Google-based events will be logged and tracked on a Salesforce dashboard, allowing customers to view the sales cycle and marketing campaign on a single, unified screen.
The partnership also gives Google access to Saleforce's one million paying subscribers, while giving Google's free business customers a more robust toolset. That combination should go a long way to undermining Microsoft, which has embraced digital advertising because of an eroding software business.
