Facebook doesn't want to rush its profile page redesign. According to the social network's developer blog, Facebook won't roll out the redesign until sometime later this spring.
The redesign, which many see as the biggest change at Facebook since the near-catastrophic Beacon advertising debacle, was set to launch early in April.
Facebook said it was holding off on the rollout after feedback from many of its developers who make the widgets that have come to define the site.
"We're still iterating on the design, making sure we get it right. We'll still continue to roll out improvements to Platform [the backbone of the company's developer initiative] as well," wrote Pete Bratach of Facebook. "And rest assured we will give you a period of time so you can update your applications before the profile is released to our users."
Previews of the redesign can be seen here.
Earlier this month, Facebook did manage to roll out its much-anticipated chat feature. By all accounts, the early phases of chat at Facebook have gone well, and many are speculating that the social network could rival AOL's share of the instant messenger market.
