ad:tech awards celebrate winners

Taking time out from an action-packed trade show, ad:tech hosted the 11th Annual ad:tech Awards Ceremony at the Mezzanine, a popular San Francisco night spot.

More than 35 winners were honored during a well attended ceremony that featured DJ E-Rock and performance artist Nick Myerhoff.

The 2008 ad:tech Awards broke previous records, receiving more than 490 submissions, judged by a panel of 110 industry leaders.

"I was thrilled to be a part of the judging process," said Russell Scott, CEO and creative director at Jetset Studios.  "After reviewing all of the entries, I truly believe that we work in the most creative, dynamic and innovative industry on the planet. To be able to give someone a smile with a few well placed pixels and a couple of sound files is nothing short of miraculous."

The awards also included three People's Choice categories. Deep Focus won Best Large Format or Overlay Ad for "Flight of the Conchords." AdMission took home the award for Best Interactive Broadcast Ad for Ubisoft Rayman. Best Banner Ad went to TAXI for Blue Shield of California Headbanger.

The ceremony also honored three special industry veterans for their achievements.

Pete Blackshaw, EVP of digital strategic services for Nielsen Online; Kate Thorp, CEO of Real Girls Media; and Rich LeFurgy, general partner of Archer, were all recognized with the 2008 Industry Achiever Award.
