Google could make a lot of bloggers very happy, according to a post at Google Operating System. The blog, which isn't affiliated with the search giant, is reporting that Google is in the processes of bringing Analytics, its popular web metrics program, to the blogging world.
According to Google Operating System, Google has been working on integrating Measure Map, a blogging analytics company it bought two years ago, into its Analytics platform.
The integration means Google will add Measure Map features like information on comments and links from other blogs to its Analytics dashboard.
Enhanced reporting for blogs could be an important step for Google, which dominates the web's long tail by providing an array of tools for bloggers. However, that long-tail dominance has come under fire lately with news that Blogger, Google's popular blogging platform, has come under attack from spammers. Google is working to fix the holes in Blogger to keep its blogging platform from being overrun by spam. While that's largely a matter of enhanced security measures, keeping a steady pipeline of new products rolling to the legions of bloggers that populate the web is also in the search giant's best interest.
