Peter Horan trusts in email

Industry veteran Peter Horan has left his post as CEO of IAC Media and Advertising to lead the helm at Goodmail Systems.

"I'm excited about the chance to build the next great ad platform," Horan told iMedia. "People spend more time in email than in search, but B2C email marketing is broken. The ability to deliver safe and legitimate email messages to consumers not only provides immediate return for senders today, it creates a platform upon which exciting new inbox-based advertising products can be introduced."

In his role as CEO, Horan will lead the introduction of Goodmail's new advertising platform for the inbox, leveraging the company's CertifiedEmail service, which the company says has been adopted by seven of the nation's top 10 email mailbox providers, and is in use by more than 500 commercial brands and 200 government agencies and nonprofits.

As CEO of IAC, Horan oversaw more than $250 million in advertising and commerce revenue from Evite, Pronto, IAC Mobile and Ask Sponsored Listings.

Last week it was announced that IAC/InterActiveCorp reportedly is paying $100 million in cash for Lexico, which owns Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com and Reference.com, a deal expected to be a shot in the arm for Ask.com, IAC's cornerstone web property.
