Glam, the female-targeted publisher and ad network, is launching GlamTV, a video distribution platform it thinks could solve the online video monetization conundrum by giving its affiliates access to licensed content with Glam-served ads.
The platform provides Glam's network of 500 partner websites and blogs access to licensed video content from E! Online, Sony BMG, CelebTV, Lifetime Networks and independent video makers like BeautifulStranger.com and Tarot.com. Publishers will be able to embed video into their sites, while creating custom channels and playlists.
Glam will serve in-video advertising, and the platform comes with a multitude of options for advertisers, including overlays, pre-roll, sponsorships and full-page takeovers. Glam's network reaches 64 million consumers worldwide, according to comScore.
A few months ago, Glam announced an end to guaranteed payments to some of its publishers, which led to rumors that the ad network was going to snatch up affiliates at discount prices. Glam purchased the social network StyleMob earlier this year.
