Dew does democracy for new flavor

Mountain Dew doesn't care about candidates named Obama or McCain. Instead, the soft drink maker is focused on flavors like Voltage (raspberry citrus with ginseng), Revolution (wild berry fruit with ginseng) and Supernova (strawberry melon and ginseng), and which of the three creations online voters will select as the next flavor of Mountain Dew.

For a 12-week period this summer, consumers will be able to buy all three flavors at stores and then hit the polls at Dewmocracy.com. The flavor with the most votes will become the newest member of the Mountain Dew family.

Mountain Dew is also rolling out physical campaigns, such as a 50-foot interactive billboard in Los Angeles. To eliminate the possibility of hanging chads, voters will fire a paintball gun at the billboard to cast their vote, according to Brandweek.
