Mobile content provider go2 Media is taking a bold step forward in mobile advertising by launching animated banner ads across its network.
The eye-catching ads will appear at the top of WAP pages that are optimized to run across all networks and devices, according to MediaPost. Go2 currently offers 15 branded content channels, including categories such as music, news and sports. Mobile sites within those channels draw more than 2 million visitors a month, according to the company.
Tests on the animated ads have already shown higher clickthrough rates, and advertisers like Best Buy, Office Depot and the U.S. Navy are already on board.
"Brands are looking for what they can do to get that image out there, and if we can do things to help enhance their image and proposition to consumers, these are the types of things that will help mobile marketing grow overall," Tim Solt, go2's SVP of sales, said.
The company is currently offering the service for no premium, in the hope that it will catch on with more advertisers.
"We're providing this as a value-added because we want [advertisers] to try it. We think it's the right thing to do," Solt said.
