Microsoft dumps Expedia
Microsoft must love going on cheap vacations. In April, the company acquired the airfare pricing tool Farecast. Now, Microsoft is shaking up its search engine to help its customers get the best vacation deals possible.
Orbitz.com and its ebookers.com affiliate will now replace Expedia Inc. as the official travel agencies for Microsoft's U.S. and U.K. search, according to Reuters. The move could bring an additional 3.5 monthly visitors to Orbitz via Microsoft search.
Microsoft, which has made search a top priority, said the decision to make a switch was based on Orbitz's features.
