Blinkx gives partners video search

Blinkx, an online video search engine, is launching an integrated video search service that lets publishers share in the revenue generated by video searches.

The service, called Red Label, lets publishers integrate Blinkx search services directly onto their websites. In a statement on the company's website, Blinkx said Red Label would let publishers take advantage of the estimated $7.2 billion that will be spent on online video advertising in the next four years by letting publishers either place their own ads beside the video content or use targeted ads served by Blinkx.

Red Label is free of charge and available in two tiers -- one for larger customers and one for smaller websites such as blogs.

The new development from Blinkx comes after rumors that the company was up for sale, with Google and News Corp. in the running for the search engine. More people in the U.K. view Blinkx-linked videos than those found through Google's U.K. service.
