Another flop befalls Yahoo
Chalk up another failure for Yahoo in the social networking space. The company has announced that it will close the doors on Mash, its fourth bid at a social network.
Yahoo gave no reason for its decision to close Mash, which will officially cease to operate Sept. 29. However, it's clear that the company failed to attract widespread interest in the social network.
Mash had been launched as a replacement for Yahoo 360, which stumbled after its 2005 launch. Yahoo has also tried to remedy its weakness in social networking through acquisitions. But the company failed to secure a deal with Facebook (now partly owned by Microsoft) and Bebo (now owned by AOL).
