Will search save YouTube?

Google has been throwing out a lot of ideas for monetizing YouTube, but the search giant may at last have found its sweet spot now that YouTube has pushed past Yahoo in total video search traffic.

According to an Ad Age report, YouTube will begin offering paid search ads alongside its YouTube results in a system that will look and feel much like the AdWords program.

Advertisers will be able to buy the ads on a cost-per-click basis. The ads will feature a thumbnail image and some text. The ads will link to an advertiser's YouTube channel.

Current YouTube search advertisers include the movie "W," University of Phoenix and Simple Shoes.
