A new report from HubSpot on the "State of the Twittersphere" is fueling more interest in the text-driven platform, according to MediaPost. Agency executives are increasingly interested in using the emerging micro-blogging medium to reach new audiences.
Marketing software firm HubSpot found that 70 percent of all Twitter users were introduced to the service this year. Moreover, adoption is growing at a fast clip -- anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 new accounts are opened daily. Despite Twitter's growing popularity, some agencies recognize that the platform isn't ideal for every client's needs. "Twitter opens up a conversation that requires a significant investment to maintain," said Terry Dry, president and co-founder of Fanscape.
It's also worth noting that 35 percent of Twitter users have no more than 10 followers, while 9 percent are following no one. Not surprisingly, HubSpot found that users with a strong following are also avidly following others at nearly the same rate.
