CNET Goes Geo

CNET Networks, Inc. has enlisted Digital Envoy’s geo-targeting technology across its network of Websites, including CNET, ZDNet, TechRepublic, GameSpot and mySimon.

Digital Envoy’s NetAcuity IP Intelligence product lets media companies such as CNET automatically serve localized and targeted content to Website users, and provides geo-reporting information that gives insight for an analysis of where customers are based.

According to the company, IP Intelligence is a non-invasive technology that does not rely on cookies, third-party databases or personally identifiable information about a user, but rather utilizes the four-plus billion universe of IP addresses to pinpoint the location of Website visitors down to a city level worldwide, as well as identify other IP-based factors such as connection speed, domain name, and zip code.
