Canada Accesses Web More Than U.S.

comScore Networks has launched qSearch in Canada, following studies that discovered Canadian residents are more active users of search engines than U.S. residents.

About 85 percent of users in Canada have conducted at least one search at the top engines each month, compared with 73 percent in the United States.

In April, Canadian residents conducted about 575 million searches at major engines, or 40 searches a month. U.S. users conducted about 3.6 billion searches a month or 35 searches per person in March.

"With more than 60 percent of home users accessing the Web through a broadband connection, it didn't surprise us to find that Canadians are more frequent search engine users," says Brent Lowe-Bernie, president of comScore Media Metrix Canada. "These numbers should offer a clear indication to search providers and marketers that Canada is fertile market for search engine advertising.
