Ask Jeeves has introduced new features that will make it faster and more efficient for users to find information online. The new features build on its strategy to take searchers beyond "10 blue links" and directly to the most relevant results.
The Smart Search features include links and synopses to movies, access to wedding registries, FedEx and UPS tracking and people search.
Ask Jeeves also has launched Binoculars, a patent-pending site preview tool that enables users to quickly and easily preview their research results before click-though to visit the end pages themselves. An independent study found that Binoculars reduced by 50 percent the number of results pages users needed to review before finding the most relevant result.
"Ask Jeeves' goal continues to be helping users find what they need in a smarter and more intuitive way, and these news features to just that," says Jim Lanzone, senior vice president of search properties.
"Our users can meet the important needs of their everyday lives all in the same place. They can confidently find the perfect wedding gift, track that important package, or catch up on their favorite sports team," he says. "At the same time, the Binoculars feature allows users to say good-bye to pogo-sticking; in that time-consuming process of repeatedly returning to the results page."
