CBS MarketWatch Launches Redesign of Site and VSE

MarketWatch Inc. today announced a redesign of the front page of its CBS MarketWatch Web site  and a new version of its online trading game Virtual Stock Exchange (VSE). The redesigned site features enhanced video technology and more prominent display of editorial and advertiser content.

“CBS MarketWatch has long been an industry pioneer of new approaches to advertising and content management on the Internet. Today’s enhancements will now make our flagship site easier than ever to navigate, while providing advertisers with premium advertising placements that have a larger, more dramatic display,” says Scot McLernon, executive vice president, sales & marketing, MarketWatch.

Another highlight of the redesign is a new window on the right side of the page that is dedicated to video and audio editorial content. More features of the site will roll out in the coming months.

The CBS MarketWatch Web site is offering the online stock trading game free to existing site members and first time site registers.

“We are dedicated to helping people of all ages learn about stock market trading, and our Virtual Stock Exchange is an entertaining way to do just that. Our hope is that as we continue to develop these types of products and tools, the MarketWatch brand will grow and attract even more visitors,” says Larry Kramer, chief executive officer, MarketWatch

The new VSE's features include more “corporate actions” such as stock splits and dividends. Gamers will also receive the benefits of a free CBS MarketWatch membership. The game was put to test on Friday by students of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Students used the VSE in a day-long market simulation competition.
