CNN.com Launches Branding Campaign

CNN.com announced the launch of "Power of CNN Under Your Command," a new branding campaign that features CNN on-air journalists promoting the CNN brand on TV and on the Web.

The irreverent commercials feature CNN journalists such as Christiane Amanpour, Wolf Blitzer, Lou Dobbs and Paula Zahn in humorous promotional spots. One spot, entitled "Sandwich" features a woman eating a sandwich at her desk while asking Wolf Blitzer to run the top news headlines by her.

"The more we investigated how people feel and act with our CNN Web site, the more we realized how closely linked our site was to the core brand. The inspiration to the campaign comments on how our users are able to harness all the CNN resources. This is the first time that CNN.com has done a branding campaign," says Scot Safon, senior vice president of marketing and promotions, CNN News Group.

The advertisements will appear on CNN/U.S., CNN Headline News and on other Turner networks. Some of the ads will run in Regal Theatres nationwide from Dec. 12-31.

 "The new ad campaign allows us to promote another aspect of our brand that differentiates CNN in the marketplace. This is a fun, clever illustration of how millions of people actually interact with CNN on a daily basis," adds Safon.

The eight commercials were written and directed by Brendan Gibbons of Hungry Man productions.
