Internet company Yahoo!.Inc. and reality show producer Mark Burnett agreed Thursday to extend their online advertising content agreement. Yahoo! Inc. will produce, host and sell Web site advertising for numerous upcoming television shows including "The Contender" and "The Apprentice."
"The site has a seamless integration of six online and offline advertisers including Microsoft, Intel, Staples and Sony Pictures. Other advertisers are a surprise and will not be disclosed until they are revealed on 'The Apprentice'," says Jim Moloshok, senior vice president of entertainment, Yahoo! Inc.
Yahoo! will promote the debuting shows through its Yahoo! TV, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! HotJobs, Yahoo! Finance and LAUNCH products. Allowing the shows an expanded reach, the sites will offer broadband video and banner ads to viewers seeking an interactive experience and provide access to exclusive content specifically relating to Burnett's shows.
"We are taking the viewer from a mono experience to a surround sound experience where they will envelop the show," Mr. Moloshok continues. "The benefit is that we are providing a deeper experience for the consumer on a compelling site which is interactive in multiple ways; the contributing elements include a huge palate of tools: group fantasy sports (a play along program), Yahoo! Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Mail and Shopping."
"The Apprentice's" Web site is live and available today providing up to forty minutes of extra footage through Yahoo! TV or SBC Yahoo! DSL Front Page. The Web site will run through the third season of "The Apprentice" which debuted Thursday. "The Contender" is scheduled to debut on February 21.
