Fox Mobile Entertainment's Mobizzo

News Corporation's Fox Mobile Entertainment announced the launch of mobile content destination Mobizzo.

Mobizzo offers content for download, including: collections from popular Fox brands, such as "Family Guy," "American Dad" and "Napoleon Dynamite".

Mobizzo is currently available on Cingular and T-Mobile phones in the United States.

"The mobile market is exploding and it makes perfect sense for a media company like ours to create a real content destination for the billions of cell phone users around the world. From Fox television and movie properties, to original content produced directly for the mobile audience, we think we can create a unique and compelling mobile entertainment offering and deliver it directly to the consumer," says News Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Peter Chernin.

Consumers can download content from Mobizzo for a fee charged directly to their monthly mobile phone bills. Pricing for the various products range from $1.99 to $2.49 and monthly subscription plans averaging $5.99 per month.

"Mobizzo appears to be paving the way for a whole Fox mobile network," says Joyce Schwarz, analyst and emerging media consultant and iMedia contributor. "Now if only some major advertiser would step up to the plate and cut a deal so that all of us who love Fox programming could get Mobizzo ala carte offerings subsidized by a brand. Mobizzo is priced at a going rate but with a little help from someone like FORD they could offer some of the content for the ultimate right price-- FREE. When Fox launched its "24" game online in 2004, they did a deal with LG for product placement. As text messaging becomes increasingly popular it may be possible to tie a sponsored text message system to the Mobizzo platform. It's a brave new mobile world out there just waiting for new ways to reach us anyplace, anywhere and anytime. After checking out the Mobizzo site, I'm fascinated to find that I can't find the Fox relationship or logo on the home page. It's not even noted in the About Us section. It is in the terms of service, though. Could Fox have their eye on the whole mobile marketplace, not just their properties?"

A spokesperson for Mobizzo was not immediately available to comment if there are ads on Mobizzo.
