Net Neutrality Bill Passes
A new proposition to ensure equal treatment of internet provider content, the "Internet Freedom" bill, has been approved by a U.S. House of Representatives committee. This comes after the House Energy and Commerce Committee allowed a telecom reform bill to pass without such anti-blocking stipulations in April.
According to the Internet Freedom bill, broadband companies must offer their competitors' content at the same frequency and resolution as their own.
Those who oppose the bill note its restrictions. Should a company require more bandwidth than others in order to offer new, cutting-edge content, it may not be able to, if the broadband provider doesn't have the capacity to offer that same bandwidth to its other clients.
