Google's ambitions for Chrome may be boundless

Chrome, Google's new browser, hasn't been out for a full day, but already the search giant is touting it as the future for platforms beyond the desktop.

Speaking from Google's Mountain View, Calif., headquarters, company co-founder Sergey Brin outlined the potential for linking Chrome up with Android, the company's highly anticipated mobile platform.

"We have not wanted to bind one's hands to the other's," Brin said in reference to the separate development paths for both products. "[But] probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack."

Chrome, which is already getting strong reviews, launched late yesterday. Android is expected to launch later this month when Google releases its wireless platform in partnership with T-Mobile.
