Mitch Spolan is the newest edition to LivingSocial’s executive team, serving as the Senior Vice President of National Accounts, based in New York, NY. In his role, Mitch leads LivingSocial’s North American sales organization in working with clients that have a nationwide footprint, with a particular focus on growing Fortune 500 relationships.
Prior to joining LivingSocial, Mitch was with Yahoo! for over 12 years, where he ran North American advertising sales focused on Fortune 500 clients. He relies on his creative and technological background to help his clients take advantage of new opportunities in our constantly evolving industry. During his tenure at Yahoo!, Mitch worked to redefine the creative opportunities in digital advertising on Yahoo!. Most notably, Mitch designed and spearheaded the release of several new ad formats including the Login page, the Mail Pullover, and the adoption of OPA ad standards across Yahoo!. In 2003, Mitch became the first member of the Yahoo! Sales team to win the Yahoo! Super Star Award – the highest distinction a Yahoo! employee can earn.
Mitch began his career as an Architect after graduating from the University of Florida with both a Bachelors degree in Design (1993) and a Masters in Architecture specializing in Architectural Acoustics (1995). He practiced at one of the largest architecture firms in Atlanta for several years before becoming fascinated with the growing World Wide Web. The web offered both infinite creative outlets, and the ability to leverage new technologies in groundbreaking ways. The web’s combination of art and science held the same appealing qualities that drew Mitch to Architecture and Architectural Acoustics as a career. In 1997, while continuing to practice Architecture, Mitch opened an interactive advertising agency out of his spare bedroom. His agency specialized in creative design along with media buying, which was concentrated on Yahoo!.
Currently, Mitch lives in New York with his wife Mia, of twelve years, his eight year old son Jesse, his five year old daughter Rudy, and his three dogs.
