Karen's Bio

Karen is a digital advertising and media pioneer, and successful entrepreneur. Karen is currently the CEO of Lifeables, a social media platform start-up (beta fall 2011).  Lifeables will enable parents to capture, collect, share and safeguard their family memories - effectively becoming the "curators" of their family digital content.  Prior to joining Lifeables, Karen was SVP, Media Services at AMP Agency, overseeing all traditional and digital media services..  Karen joined AMP in 2008 following Alloy´s acquisition of Fulgent Media Group, the agency Karen founded. 

Karen founded Fulgent Media Group in 1999 as an internet consulting firm.  The agency then grew to become a full service media agency with billings in excess of $20 million.  Fulgent received numerous awards including “Top 100 Women Led Businesses in Massachusetts” in 2006; an Entrepreneur Magazine “Hot 500” and one of the “Top 50 Fastest Growing Woman Owned Businesses in America” by Entrepreneur Magazine in 2007; and an Inc. “Top 500” in 2008.

Karen founded Fulgent  following her successful tenure as the first marketing director for Monster.com.  At Monster, Karen created the marketing infrastructure and team that helped Monster achieve its leadership position. She has over 17 years of interactive experience and over 25 years of marketing experience (client and agency sides). 

Prior to Monster, Karen was Marketing Services Manager at Ziff-Davis Interactive, where she helped the marketing team to launch one of the very first online publishing and advertising platforms, Interchange, and one of the first small business websites for AT&T Business Network.  Karen has also held leadership positions at Software Publishers Association and The American Society for Microbiology.

She holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology and Museum Studies from George Washington University, and a Bachelor Degree in Anthropology/Sociology from the University of New Hampshire.
