Dwight's Bio

As president of Worldwide Digital Marketing, Dwight Caines manages all strategic and creative aspects of digital campaign development for the studio's film titles on a global basis. He leverages global digital media spending and institutional knowledge cross-divisionally and drives the overall portal strategy for Sonypictures.com and Sonypictures.net. 

Caines also provides strategic oversight to Imageworks Interactive, Sony Pictures' full service agency that specializes in the extension of entertainment brands in the digital space.  He also oversees the digital campaigns for Sony Pictures Releasing's The Hot Ticket, Sony's limited engagement special programming unit. 

Caines has worked on over 200 campaigns including such films as the Spider-Man® franchise, The Da Vinci Code, Casino Royale, The Pursuit of Happyness, Ghost Rider™, Superbad, the Men in Black franchise, Black Hawk Down, The Grudge, Identity, the Resident Evil franchise, the Underworld franchise, Hitch, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Kung Fu Hustle, Stomp the Yard, Quantum of Solace, Angels & Demons, Hancock, You Don't Mess with the Zohan, Step Brothers, District 9, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, Julie and Julia, Zombieland, 2012, Salt, Easy A, The Karate Kid, and The Social Network among many others.

Caines studied at Syracuse University's esteemed Newhouse School of Communications, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Media Production. After graduation, he began working in the entertainment industry on feature film and commercial productions in New York before segueing to ACTV Domestic, an interactive television production entity.

As a member of the board of directors of The Entertainment Industry Foundation, Caines was instrumental in the digital marketing and online outreach strategy for Stand Up 2 Cancer, which raised over $100 million for cancer research. 

Caines' work on digital campaigns has received several honors including: The Hollywood Reporter’s Key Art Award, One Show, Clio, Mobi and Webby Awards.  He was honored with the 2009 iMedia Visionary Marketer Award.  He has recently been accepted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is an accomplished presenter and speaks at many industry events.



His digital career began at JP Morgan Chase, where he played an instrumental role in the development of the company's online banking business by launching and managing its first customer service center dedicated to internet banking clients. For his accomplishments in service excellence, Caines was nominated for the company's prestigious Excalibur Award.

Caines joined Sony Pictures in February 1997 as director, Market Research, and quickly rose up through the ranks of that department, first to executive director and then to vice president. He was tapped to create the Digital Marketing department in February 2000.
