Paul's Bio
Paul Gunning is a leader in the interactive marketing communications field with a diverse experience set focused on the retail vertical. He has held a variety of positions at interactive advertising agencies, hi-tech merchandising companies, and promotions agencies.
Currently, Paul is responsible for the overall management and profitability of Tribal DDB Atlanta, Tribal DDB Chicago, and Tribal DDB New York. Along with Matt Freeman and Liz Ross he is responsible for setting the strategic direction of Tribal DDB in North America and for the development of new service offerings.
Prior to his current position, Paul was responsible for the management of Tribal DDB Chicago, the largest office within the agency’s North American network. He also served on the Management Committee of Tribal DDB Worldwide. He also worked across Tribal DDB Chicago’s roster of clients to focus interactive advertising efforts against actual business objectives.
Previously, Paul served as the Retail and CPG Practices Director at Tribal DDB Chicago. In this role he helped to craft online advertising strategies for clients such as Anheuser-Busch, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and General Mills. In addition, Paul led strategic consulting projects that led to McDonald’s, Gatorade, and Quaker Oats naming Tribal DDB as their Agency of Record.
Additionally, he has worked as the Director of Business Development for Siren Technologies, a company that brought a dynamic, interactive approach to retail merchandising and in-store communications via networked plasma displays. During his tenure with Siren, Paul also led the account teams serving the Sears, Roebuck & Co., Harris Bank and McDonald’s accounts.
Before joining Siren Technologies, Paul was with Frankel & Co. serving a variety of new business and account service roles. While with Frankel, Paul worked with a number of clients including Kodak and Microsoft.
In addition to his practical experience, Paul was awarded an MBA in Marketing from DePaul University in 1999.
Prior to joining Tribal DDB in June of 2000, Paul served as Director of Business Development for Siren Technologies. A hi-tech division, owned by the promotions and merchandising company, Frankel and Company, Siren sought to bring an interactive approach to retail merchandising and in-store communications. Beyond new business, his duties included account management of Sears, Roebuck & Co., Harris Bank and McDonald's. Before moving to Siren, Paul was with the parent company, Frankel & Co. serving a variety of new business and account service roles for clients such as Kodak and Microsoft.
In addition to his practical experience, Paul was awarded an MBA in Marketing from DePaul University in 1999. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife and two sons.
