Keynote Presentation: Connecting with Consumers through Emerging Media and Technology Maria Mandel, Partner, Executive Director of Digital Innovation, OgilvyInteractive Today consumers are creating and expressing their identity, engaging with others, and connecting to brands for entertainment, information and shared life experiences. Empowered, busy consumers with a multitude of choices cannot be pitched or easily persuaded. They now expect to be engaged. How can marketers involve and interact with consumers on their terms? What are the roles of new marketing practices and technologies such as digital video, mobile, gaming, digital OOH and TV? In a world where what was TV is now video everywhere, where print is simply text, and where outdoor is stationary wireless, what are the most effective vehicles for building a brand and developing a relationship? In this consumer-controlled world, where personalized, on-demand content and context reign, what are the most promising channels for distributing branded content? With the video game industry hitting a record high with sales of over $12.5 billion last year, what's the next generation of gaming and how do brands leverage this channel? And with 229mm mobile subscribers in the U.S. market, mobile services are quickly evolving into the next big media channel. How do you leverage this medium for branding, promotional and CRM goals? |

Panel Presentation: The Next Generation of Content Kevin McGurn, Vice President, >nbbc Tim Murphy, Senior Director, Digital Marketing, Bud TV, Anheuser Busch Dmitry Shapiro, CEO, Veoh Networks Moderator: Bruce Woolsey, Vice President, Advanced Marketing Solutions, Avenue A | Razorfish In the near future, the old model of ads simply "riding along" with content will continue to decline in effectiveness. In its place, will content creators and marketers team up to find clever ways to integrate and intermingle brand, message and story into one experience of content - a seamless one? Will content be channel agnostic? Will the ideas that drive content be created outside of allegiance to a specific distribution method, and stand on their own as true "concepts"? In turn, will these channel-agnostic "concepts" be adapted into the multi-platform landscape. Will distribution channels be employed in service of the content idea, and will the content concepts adapt to channels to take advantage of the unique aspects and consumer behaviors of that channel? Will digital content be measurable and accountable not only to the advertiser, but to the audience? Will it be interactive and dynamic and facilitate a participatory model and drives community? Content is easier and easier to make, and distribution fragmentation offers more places to put that content than ever before. This phenomenon illustrates the difference between big budget and high-concept. No longer does the biggest spender on content creation win, but the best idea. The two (budget vs. concept quality) become unhinged because of the lowered barriers to entry in production. Will next generation content service an empowered consumer and respect that ultimate level of control? These questions and more will be answered and debated by our power panel of experts in this exciting presentation. |

Dinner Dinner Speaker: Chaos 2.0 Bob Garfield, Columnist & Critic, Advertising Age The last time we heard from Bob Garfield, he was talking about The Chaos Scenario -- an apocalyptic vision of traditional media in collapse before the digital world is fully constructed, leaving marketers, content makers and consumers in the lurch. Two years later, Bob returns with Chaos 2.0 -- his vision for a media and advertising environment that looks very little like the Old World Order. In this world, for example, there is no guarantee of highly produced, long-form content. "Heroes" could be victims and "Lost" could be lost. But what’s missing is the 30-second spot, or any of the freestanding creative that has been seducing -- or annoying -- consumers since time immemorial. Bob is giddy with enthusiasm about the future of marketing, but he's nearly as delighted to imagine Cannes as a smoldering ruin. |

Panel Presentation: Venture Capitalists - Where is the Money Going? Richard de Silva, Partner, Highland Capital Partners Tabreez Verjee, General Partner, Global Asset Capital Moderator: Kate Thorp, CEO, Real Girls Media Long gone are the days when words like “interactive,” “online” or “e-[anything]” alone would get you funding. Yet without funding, many of the companies we work with today in the interactive marketing sector would not exist. Aside from a great idea and a great business plan, venture capital is required to get those companies and technologies off the ground and to support their growth, be it at the seed, early or growth stage level. In this panel, the funding experts will share what kinds of endeavors they will be supporting in the near future and what influences those decisions. VCs contribute to companies that have the chance to become very significant. Many VC firms take an active lead role in the companies they back and serve on the boards of directors of their portfolio companies. They continually seek and deliver competitive advantage to the teams that they back. This means they have to know everything about the market, the trends, the needs and wants of marketers and everyone in between. Where the money is going is a good indication of where the interactive marketing industry will be in the upcoming years. In this presentation, hear the principals of the leading VC firms talk about the dollars that affect the entire industry. |

Creative Keynote: Inspiring the Creative Hydra Anne Benvenuto, E.V.P., Strategic Services, R/GA Technology and emerging media have rocked our world and forced us from our comfort zones. Consumer behavior fueled by technology is burning the boundaries between brand, media, consumer and agency -- creating new modes of expression, collaboration and cultural meaning. By embracing broadband, mobile and the newest platforms of communication, marketers and agencies are better equipped and able to reach the elusive consumer with real-time and relevant content. Our unshakeable belief in the big idea and concepts rooted in linear narrative is crumbling. How can creative and media teams be inspired to new heights and how can emerging media help do this? Anne Benvenuto from R/GA will discuss planning with new media in a digital world and how to inspire concepts that transcend linear narratives. |
