A New York City landmark, The Metropolitan Club was built in 1894 by noted architect Stanford White (Washington Square Arch). The club was commissioned by JP Morgan, reportedly after several of his industrialist friends were spurned by some of the elite private clubs of the day in the city. Designed in the high style and master artisanship of its day—and beautifully restored—The Metropolitan Club’s membership has included many of New York’s leading families throughout its 113-year history including the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Roosevelts, Hamiltons, Cromwells, Browns and many more.
Please note that The Metropolitan Club has a strict dress code. Dress Code requires jacket and tie for gentlemen and attire of equal formality for ladies. Jeans, shorts, T-shirts and sneakers are never permitted. The Club reserves the right to refuse entry to those who are not in compliance with this dress code.
