Not only is it getting harder for TV networks to build audiences at scale for their shows, but it’s harder to keep those audiences loyal. The nature of "loyalty" to a program changes a lot when viewership occurs not only as live viewing through traditional linear television, but when it is time-shifted through DVR's, or occurs on a PC through Hulu or Boxee, or is streamed to a smartphone.
