Charlie started his career at AOL as Senior Vice President, Agency Relations of AOL's Interactive Marketing Group. He played a leading role in AOL's efforts to enhance its outreach to traditional advertisers.
Mr. Barrett has more than 15 years marketing and media experience, Prior to joining AOL, Barrett was Yahoo's Executive Director of Sales for the Northwest region. During his tenure, he managed both a client-direct group with a retail category focus and a dedicated agency team responsible for developing, packaging, selling and maintaining custom solutions for their customers.
Mr. Barrett joined Yahoo! in 1999 through the Company's acquisition of GeoCities and was formerly Vice President, West Coast Region for GeoCities. While at GeoCities, his mission was to build a new western region sales team and achieve substantial revenue growth. By leveraging his media relationships and cultivating a talented team, he was successful in solidly establishing GeoCities position as a leader in the marketplace.
Prior to his success in interactive marketing, Mr. Barrett's media career began in the print business at US News & World Report in 1987 where he held various positions in finance, marketing and sales. He left in 1994 to join Disney Publishing as General Manager on the launch team of their FamilyPC title. In 1996, he went back into sales and relocated to the West coast as Associate Publisher to take advantage of the ongoing tech boom.
Barrett holds both a BS and MBA from the University of Maryland. He resides in Mill Valley, CA with his wife and four children.
