Rick joined Microsoft in 2006 and leads all sales efforts for Microsoft Advertising in the Eastern US. After leading four-fold revenue growth for the region, Rick was promoted to General Manager in 2010 and his responsibilities were expanded to include the Southeastern US and he currently presides over a sales and service organization of over 200, with offices in New York, Boston and Atlanta. Rick and his team work with Fortune 1000 marketers and the leading advertising agencies to drive profitable engagement with audiences across Microsoft’s digital portfolio and network of partner sites including MSN, XBOX, Skype, Wonderwall, FoxSports and MSNBC; and all Microsoft platforms including Display, Video, Branded Content, Advanced TV, Gaming, and Mobile.
In 2008, Rick created the Microsoft Digital Showcase, the company’s first content Upfront, now in its fifth year. Rick’s organization has led Microsoft’s advancement in multi-screen marketing solutions and launched the first 3-screen advertising campaign for the Discovery Channel, as well as Wendy’s “It Happened for Real”; Microsoft’s first multi-platform, branded content program, distributed concurrently across MSN, XBOX and Windows Phone.
Rick is a 20-year veteran of media sales and management and has spent the last 15 years working in digital. Prior to Microsoft, he held various sales leadership roles at Yahoo and Forbes.com. Rick began his media career in print at Ziff-Davis Publishing, which led to his first online role with ZDNet.
Rick is active in the advertising community and co-chairs The Advertising Club of New York’s committee on Diversity. In 2010, he was honored with the Ad Club’s “President Award”. He’s also served as a Board Director and President of the 212 NYC Interactive Ad Club. Rick is a recurrent juror on the IAB MIXX Awards Jury and sits on the advisory board of Martini Media. Rick is based in NYC and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
